got to actually help someone today
by finally awake injust ron and i spent a few hours today helping clean up tornado damage in ridgway.
i never got to do anything like that when i was a witless.
my field circus hours were never deemed high enough to participate in quick builds or disaster relief work..

Are black people more emotional than white people
by barry ini see in churches in the states standing up in church dancing, clapping their hands and being quite emotional even in a church.

could any of my american friends inform me i showed it to my father who is a lay preacher and he was mistified as to what tradition this dress comes from but seems to be concentrated to th eblack community also?.

^^^ I think what Barry meant was that the Australian Aboriginals are understood to come from India, and Indians are technically Caucasian. The term Caucasian refers to many peoples, not just blonde, blue-eyed people.
But if you go back far enough anthropologically speaking, we ALL come out of Africa, so technically we are all Africans anyway.

My Son's Wisdom
by TOTH inmy youngest son is now in college and while he has always had an extraordinary ability to call it like it is, he is now even more likely to mouth off.
he is honing his deductive reasoning and objective thinking skills very nicely and with his "don't give a shit attitude" when it comes to pointing out hypocrisy, well he is just a walking bs caller...especially around the jw's.. so we were talking this evening about some stuff that used to be taught in the hall back when i was a kid.
no college because young people would never grow old in this system.

I refuse to believe that all Aussies are so misinformed about African Americans as you are.
Please ignore Barry - he's simply trolling to stir the pot.
No, we're not ignorant of black Americans. We don't personally meet that many over here and the most some Aussies get to know about them is from the media - tv shows, movies, singers etc.
I have had personal experience with one in particular, as I lived with him in Europe for 6 months. I won't say it was an education on living with a black person because I saw him as American first, black second or more likely, tenth or twentieth on the list of other qualities he possessed. He introduced me to Dave Chappelle who at first I thought was highly racist but my bf was able to explain the nuances behind the comedy.
Just as American comedy is different to other cultures, so is Australian. Barry isn't really that ignorant, he's pretending to be, and the more you react to him, the more he'll stir the pot.

I left because I couldn't get the answers to my questions. Too much didn't make sense.
Yet I used to fully believe in it all. It WAS "the Truth". It was my whole life. But I got to my mid-20s and had seen things in JW world that didn't add up.
Eventually I realised it wasn't "the truth" and in all good conscience I couldn't keep believing in doctrines that weren't true.
So I walked away. Not df'd nor da'd. Been out for over 12 years now
